Rental terms

Rental agreement version: October 26, 2026.

Rental requests

A request records your interest in the selected name, scope and monthly price. It does not reserve the name, start billing or grant DNS access. Any rental begins only after you review and accept the final offer, complete payment and receive activation confirmation.

The rental

You rent permitted use of the exact domain, root, or subdomain branch shown in your accepted offer. Registration stays with the holder. Hosting, mailboxes, and ownership of the registration are not included.

Scope and DNS

A shared root includes the root and www; other subdomains may have separate tenants. A subdomain rental includes its descendant branch within the DNS record allowance. Exclusive use reserves the namespace except protected platform service records. Shared roots and branches include 10 DNS records; exclusive rentals include 50. DNS access is limited by scope, record type, quota, and paid email entitlements. Nameserver delegation and unrestricted shared-parent ownership verification are not included.

Email DNS is an optional paid add-on for one exact mail domain. It supports MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records within the rental’s allowance. It does not include mailboxes or email DNS for every descendant. A CNAME cannot coexist with MX or TXT at the same hostname. Shared-parent certificate policy stays with openlaunch; shared-root DMARC must include sp=none and cannot impose a restrictive np policy on other branches.

Payment and protected availability

The first payment is collected through hosted checkout, followed by monthly billing. Protected availability starts at verified activation and lasts at least 12 calendar months while the renter remains paid and compliant. The accepted price is fixed for that term. Monthly payments advance paid-through access separately and do not restart the protected term. Continuing beyond that term requires confirmed coverage and a next-term offer. No future price increase is charged without acceptance. Prices are in USD.

Cancellation and failed payments

Renter cancellation stops future renewals and preserves owed paid-through access. The failed-payment grace period is seven days, followed by provider reconciliation before service ends. A browser return does not establish payment or service activation. Failure to activate requires operational recovery, cancellation of future collection, and a full initial refund; refund requests and settled refunds are shown separately.

Holder obligations

The holder maintains authority, DNS control, and funded registration coverage through promised commitments. Withdrawal stops new commitments and preserves existing protected terms, paid access, the 90-day ordinary notice period, and safe cleanup. Open checkouts must be reconciled before the final release date is known.

Shared names and supported uses

Shared names support reviewed connection methods. Hosting ownership checks, cookies, email policies, and browser isolation can affect other branches. No use may interfere with another tenant or attempt to take control of the parent domain. Your host must support the exact hostname and permitted records. Compatibility with every hosted application is not guaranteed. Payment activation, DNS application, HTTPS, and a working website are separate checks.
